The Design
The Apple IPOD Nano 8GB Black 3rd Gen measures a mere 2.75 inches in length, 2 inches in width and 0.25 inch in thickness. It is a lot different compared to the 2nd generation. The thickness is generally similar. The faceplate has matte, anodized aluminium just like others before it. The sides and back is similar to the IPOD video, which is rounded, glossy and with a chrome enclosure. The bottom part has a proprietary USB port, together with the headphone jack and hold switch.

The 3rd generation Nano can support MPEG4 or H.264 video in file formats MP4, M4V and MOV, having a maximum resolution of 640x480 up to 30 frames per second. The iTunes on-line store is also available where you can purchase videos. You may also import the files into iTunes then have them converted for playback. The Nano can support video features that others in its class could not. The Nano can also skip and recognize between DVD-like chapter markers fixed in QuickTime files. Video playback is immediately available since the last time you viewed.
It can also support video games from iTunes. There are 3 games that are pre-installed namely Solitaire, Vortex and iQuiz. You can quickly engage and disengage the shuffle function using only a few presses on the center button of the Click Wheel. You can randomize songs easily.
