You’d know if you are still living in the past by the kind of television set that you have inside your room. If it is the same bulky CRT direct view television set, you’re stuck in the old age of media technology. Today, the future lies in a much lighter and more vivid display screen- that of the flat panel television.

Flat panel televisions are those that people call flat screen televisions. They are more convenient and more economical when it comes to space. In fact, some models can even be hanged on the wall like a painting. That is how lightweight these new models are. It has two kinds, the LCD and the Plasma television. Both LCD televisions and plasma televisions have good picture quality. This is perhaps because of the number of colours that they can display in one go. Plasmas for instance can display up to 16 million different colours. Imagine that! The human eye cannot even possibly view or register that many kinds of colours! This colour display provides these television sets with vivid colours and clearer picture.

Another difference of these flat panel televisions with the usual CRT models is the fact that it has a much higher resolution. Now, pictures will not appear pixelized or broken when seen on screen. If you have the budget, I will also suggest buying models that have built in speakers as well as those that you can use as a computer screen. They’re great deals because you will not have to buy additional speakers or another LCD for the computer.
