Review: Sony KDL26U2000U Bravia
As you might already know, Sony televisions are HD ready which can be to your advantage especially, if you’re eyeing to watch in high definition or play games with high definition consoles. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
At 26 inches the KDL26U2000U Sony LCD TV may not be as wide or big as you prefer for a television set. But I’m telling you the 26 inches monitor is far better that what you had a few years ago. At that time Sony was still marketing the Wega as its premier LCD monitor television set. However, the trend was towards high definition which was why Sony developed the “Best Resolution Audio Visual Integrated Architecture” which we all know now as Sony's BRAVIA LCD Televisions.
All Bravia followed a simple: everything should be at least HD ready. With that rule, Sony developed models after models of Bravia HD ready TVs with increasing features and high performance technology installed. Every model release is an improvement from what the market had before. Everything was geared towards specific market. The KDL26U2000U is one of the latest releases from Sony. Admittedly this may not be the best Bravia in the market but the 26 inch screen size lower the costs and make this television more affordable and thus available to a wider audience.
This Bravia features a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels with a 1200:1 contrast ratio. Like what was mentioned earlier, it is already HD ready and incorporates Freeview. It has, of course UHF and VHF tuners as well as HDMI connectors to various HD peripherals like Blu-ray players, HD game consoles, and those latest HD Sony video cameras. To summarize, the KDL26U2000U is equipped with an RF socket, one HDMI socket, two SCART, one component, one composite, one S-video and of course a VGA connector that accepts the 15 pin input cable from your computer. The Bravia can be a wonderful computer monitor, if you have a more than decent video card that is. Anyways, that is always an option for the next party or dance.
With a dimension of 663mm by 220mm by 503mm, this television follows the tradition of Sony in producing thinner and thinner LCD televisions. Aside from the great advantage of being thin, the Bravia KDL26U2000U weighs only 11.8 kilograms. This might be heavy in your standards, but I do assure you that in comparison with other television sets, you’ll find the KDL26U2000U as lighter. Also, with that weight, you can easily mount the computer on your wall allowing you to rearrange furniture and design your place better.
The cost is around £512 which seems to be in the discounted range already. Nevertheless, looking for other appliance centre or on-line stores might result to a better offer for the television set. Although, the price range might not be that different, the similarities however will end on the quality of communication and customer service between the client and the company. Nevertheless, with the features this Bravia has, it seems the price is quite acceptable.
Sony Bravia KDL26U2000U has gone a long way from the first LCD produced by the company. Personally the only problem I have with this Bravia is the frame and colour of the unit. The silver finish is not bad but I will always prefer the black frame and finish of other Bravia models. Nevertheless, this Bravia seems to stand well on its own.
