In the fight for consumer attention in the fierce LCD TV market, most marketers would usually focus on a product’s one or two strong points. Panasonic’s TX26LXD8 LCD TV is one hard sell. Only because of the fact that its features are all strong selling points.
Features
As with all HD-ready LCD TV, the first checkpoint would be in the tuning department.
This Panasonic model has a DVB Digital Tuner integrated into the system with a PLL synthesizer 100-position auto-search.
It is also CATV-compatible. As a matter of standard, it has a Freeview in it for use in standard-definition program sources. (Most countries have not shifted yet to high-definition broadcast standards.)
The next stop would be the video.
The Panasonic TX26LXD8 is a 26-inch LCD TV that is HD ready with its IPS-Alpha (WXGA) LCD panel, with a dynamic contrast ratio of 8,000:1, a resolution of 1366 X 768 pixels, and a viewing angle of 178 degrees.
The video has 3D Color Management (with sub-pixel scan and picture overcam) and a 24p mode of progressive scan. The 24p Playback is to make the visuals more movie-like. It also has the Contrast Automatic Tracking System (C.A.T.S.)
Not present in other brands are its Video Noise Reduction and 3D Comb Filter. In the controls, there is a selection of picture modes: dynamic, normal, and cinema which the user can tweak accordingly.
For the audio, it has the V-Audio Sound system to bring on the sound as life-like as possible.
This 26-inch beauty has twin HDMI slots, twin SCART slots and one input sockets for Composite, Component, S-video, and CI Slot. This Common Interface Terminal is to accommodate Conditional Access Modules (CAMS) for additional high-definition digital services, like Top-Up TV, etc.
The HDMI are for high definition sources like cables, satellite boxes, and DVRs. The two SCART sockets are for other high-def sources like Blu-ray and PlayStation3 console.
Regulars
The Panasonic TX26LXD8 LCD TV model also carries the standard features for a widescreen HD-ready unit: the standard 16:9 aspect ratio, the PiP, and the anti-blurring system for fast-moving action. It also has a Teletext feature and VESA Standard.
Good buy
The Panasonic TX26LDX8 is specially manufactured for smaller viewing places like the bedroom or a den or study. With the Smart Networking with VIERA link, and its good-looking horizontal arch design, this model is one of the most attractive in the market, hype or no hype.
