Review: Sony KDL46V3000
If you think watching a movie on an ordinary widescreen LCD television is great, wait until you try watching it on a Sony KDL46V3000 46'' Full HD 1080P LCD. Let’s look at the evolution of the Bravia V series first to give you an idea on how this can be possible.
At first, Sony televisions were branded and marketed as the Sony WEGA. You probably have heard the name and seen the marketing spiels before. Up to about four years ago, the WEGA was the flagship of Sony LCD TV's. Then came the “Best Resolution Audio Visual Integrated Architecture" or BRAVIA television, which became Sony’s flagship TV for the market. Now, Bravia is basically a high definition LCD flat screen TV. Sony offered a variety of screen sizes with different capabilities and features. With every new models released Sony integrated additional features and functionalities until they reached this Sony KDL46V3000 model.
Let’s see, the KDL46V3000 Sony LCD TV is a forty-six inch television wonder. It is in full HD which means a 1920 by 1080 panel resolution. That is two times more than the resolution of a 720p HDTV. With that resolution power, imagine the clarity of picture it can produce from watching a movie through a Blu-ray player that is capable of producing a 1080p of content.
Now adding to the power of this Bravia is a 10 bit processor. This processor is unique in such a way that it is capable of producing high levels of colour, in fact the colour it produces is 64 times than what an ordinary 8-bit panel can produce. The resulting images and movement are crisper and better given the fact that through the processor the colour changes in the images become very subtle and smooth. Expect to see deep blues and natural greens in the images of this Bravia. Sony’s Advanced Contrast Enhancer also enables scenes to register blacker blacks.
The forty-six inches with an aspect ratio of 16:9 screen works well with the 1920x1080 pixel display resolution. More than that, the 6.2 mega pixel resolution creates a picture quality that is simply, due to the lack of the proper term, amazingly striking. The Bravia Engine also allows the picture quality to be enhanced. The clarity and definition of the images are more than you can imagine if you have been watching movies and shows on an outdated TV. Adding to the cinematic experience is the True Cinema innovation from Sony which gives you a closer feel to the actual cinematic experience. You also have the Bravia Theatre Sync which helps you operate you entire home entertainment system.
As mentioned earlier, the KDL46V3000 supports Blu-ray players through the HDMI inputs. This Bravia model has three HDMI inputs which makes it easier to use other HD capable technologies like the latest and high-end game consoles. Also available is a one VGA input for your computer, an audio line-in which works for your mini-phone stereo, one component video input which is known as the RCA phono and one S-Video input. Headphone sockets, audio line-out, and two SCART or RGB sockets are available.
For audio, the S-Force Front Surround system is more than enough considering that the Bravia is only equipped with a two front speakers. This is a peak of television technology. People will get a blast from the KDL46V3000. Of course, this is a little bit costly compared to your regular TV and even the earlier or lower Bravia models. But with the specs and functionality, it is certain that the KDL46V3000 is worth every penny.
