LCD's have made the leap from calculators to hand-held games to computer monitors.  Now, they are set to invade your homes once again as television sets.  LCD TVs are currently one of the most popular among flat screen televisions.  But should you get one?  Here are some reasons why you might want to go ahead and buy an LCD TV:

Picture quality is very good.

Admittedly, LCD TVs may be second only to plasmas in terms of picture quality but they are quite capable of producing excellent images.  Blur and colour display (particularly where the colour black is concerned) can sometimes cause pixilation and less-than-ideal hues but overall, LCD TVs are quite capable of producing clear, vibrant images.

No burn-in issues.

If you've made a career out of playing video games, LCD TVs are a better choice.

LCD TVs, unlike plasmas, don't have burn-in issues.  You never have to fear about having any images permanently appearing as ghostly reminders of your favourite channel or that video game you spend 8 hours a day to play anywhere on your screen.

Furthermore, LCD TVs don't eat up a lot of energy – excellent if you're watching your power cost or just want to be more environment-friendly.

Big, bigger, biggest.

LCD TV's biggest competitor is the plasma TV.  In the size department, plasmas rule but if LCD TV manufacturers have their way, that position will soon be challenged.  Some manufacturers are already looking to build bigger screens for LCD's.  Furthermore, LCD's are generally more cost-effective to manufacture.

Weight issues resolved.

In terms of weight, LCD TVs are significantly easy on the joints to move and ship.  They may resemble plasmas in look and form but they are lighter in weight.  If you want something that's easy to carry and mount, that's just another reason why you should buy an LCD TV.
