The success of Sony’s marketing may be attributed to its innovative decision of filling out most of the consumer niche in the market. In particular, Sony had in the past been filling out what the market wants and asks for.
When the new LCD market clamoured for smaller, affordable models to replace their old CRT sets, the company included the Sony KDL26U3000 among them. It is a mid-sized 26-inch model packed with all the big things Sony is known for in their TV products.
Rundown of features
First on the list of the big features on the Sony KDL26U3000 would be the automatic digital Freeview and the two open slots for HDMI. Next is the Dynamic Contrast value of 7000:1, impressive for a unit this small. Of course, this Sony LCD TV has the known BRAVIA Engine and the BRAVIA Theatre Sync running the commands and the menus.
Completing the list would be the 2 x SCART, the PC Input, its Dolby Virtual/BBE ViVA sound, the Live Colour Creation, and its being VESA Compatible.
Price and size
With the Sony televisions family, most innovations in technology are installed in almost all of the models. Of course, the research and development costs of these technological breakthroughs had been sizeable.
Most companies would have decided to tack on these pricey innovations only onto the high-priced huge models. Thankfully however, they have been democratic enough to decide that most of their models should have them as well.
It is a known fact that most of today’s consumers tend to choose bigger models as replacements for their old TV sets. And because of size, everyone wants to go into HD (high-definition) programming.
No doubt, a big screen makes HD content truly compelling and theatre-like. With the Sony KDL26U3000U, any owner would still have that gripping, life-like viewing experience all inside 26-inches of screen.
Industry standard features
As reported, the BRAVIA Engine powers up the inside of the Sony 26-inch model, working together with the famous BRAVIA Theatre Sync. The tandem simplifies the running of the commands and menus and makes the system user-friendly.
The two inputs each for HDMI and the SCART are quite sufficient for most current users. (Some users want to have more HD-capable inputs to future proof their sets. To date, it is not an issue though.) Both of these are capable of carrying high-definition signals from cables, satellite boxes and DVRs.
Good buy
For regular consumers with regular-sized living rooms, the Sony KDL26U3000 is a good investment for home-entertainment. The size might be regular, but the power is just as big as those huge ones in the market, and even better than some.

I would very much like to purchase this TV when it’s available. I live nearby and would collect the item myself. A. Hulse.
