It is a known fact that Panasonic have been producing rather impressive TVs for decades. They have some of the best performing high end TVs and they also produce budget models that performs really well.

One good TV in Panasonic’s budget TV line is the TXP42S10B.  Externally, this TV looks reasonably serious and well-built. It may look a bit dull and will not really deliver the same quality as its high end models, you will find that it is packed with all the features you need in order for you to get high quality picture.

Performance-wise, I’m not really satisfied when it comes to connections. This TV offers three HDMIs, which is what you will usually get for this kind of TV. But, it doesn’t offer any jacks for PC and internet connection.

However, it offers an SD card slot for viewing JPEGs and AVCHD videos. I was also impressed as this model is equipped with a full HD resolution, which is really a rare thing on a 42 inch plasma TV. Also, I found that offers 400Hz Sub Field Drive processing, which increases the PAL image refresh rate from 50 frames per second to 400 frames per second. This means smoother transition between frames.

Another feature that caught my attention is its 2,000,000:1 maximum contrast ratio. The TXP42S10B  also has a native contrast figure of 30,000:1. This may be lower than the maximum contrast ratio but it’s better than other native figures of 2,000:1 or even less, which is common in LCD TV.

Overall, the performance is obviously good but it really doesn’t come close when compared to higher end models of plasma and LCD TVs. All in all, you will get your money’s worth with this Panasonic TV and is still a great buy for those who are looking for good quality TV but is on a tight budget.
