Toshiba 26AV505 26 Inch HD Ready LCD
Toshiba 26AV505
Price in GBP: £205.99 Incl VAT (EU)
Sitting side by side in a showroom with the other leading LCD TV sets, the Toshiba 26AV505 looks just as sleek as all the other models. In truth, it also works just as good as, if not better than, the others.
What people think about the Toshiba AV505 series TV (from the 19-inch to the 42-inch units) had also been positive enough. This was shown by the results of the summary from over a hundred reviews of all users across the Net.
Aside from a small scruple on set-up issues, the overall attitude towards the brand had been good, with the price having the most positive rating.
Let us check some of the features of their mid-range model (one of their best-selling models), the Toshiba 26AQV505.
Features and some minor tics
Like most of the other middle range models, this particular Toshiba LCD TV model is also HD Ready and equipped with the standard Freeview to be able to access available standard-definition program sources.
The reception and the pictures are excellent by any standard. The hassle would be to manually tune the channels the first time to get them right. Auto-tuning will not do. A customer also declared that his 32-inch unit did not have the same problem.
This 26-incher has two HDMI ports, but with only one SCART input. The two HDMI ports would be for other high-definition sources like satellite boxes, cable and DVRs.
One side note: Like other Toshiba models, the HDMI port can handle long cables, or signals from a splitter or coupler, unlike the other name brands in the market.
The SCART input would be for PlayStation3 consoles and Blu-ray player. With only one socket, you have to take out whatever you had connected before being able to hook up with another.
The standard solution would be to buy an extra multiple SCART socket in order to integrate other peripherals like a DVD player perhaps, a Sky Box, etc.
The sound system is above-average and the remote control is user-friendly and uncomplicated, as one reviewer attested.
The fast-action blur problem for LCDs have been dealt with because the picture’s clarity and sharpness are just as life-like as those on over-hyped but expensive brands.
The big difference
However, the biggest and most important difference for getting the Toshiba 26AV505 is its very good price offer as compared with the other brands.
For a standard 26-inch LCD TV with all the important bells and whistles (aspect ratio, PiP, HDMI and SCART ports, etc.), you could not ask for a better buy. Check it out.
